About Coach Colonel

My name is Colonel Pratt, and yes, that is my real name. I was named in honor of my oldest uncle who was an officer in the army and unfortunately passed away before I was born. I’ve been in the church since I was born and have been a faithful member of the Church of Christ for more than 20 years. My family moved from Richmond, VA to Anchorage, AK when I was 4 and we lived there for 10 years. We moved back to Virginia as a result of a lot of family turmoil and very difficult financial circumstances.

I married to Kelly, my wife of 15 years, when I was 20 years old and we struggled in poverty for years even as we had two children. Only a year after my daughter was born we decided that I would need to get an education if I was going to live according God’s calling and support our family so in 2006 I was blessed with the opportunity to attend Ohio Valley University where I earned a B.A. in Bible with an emphasis in Missions. Through our entire time there we continued to struggle with poverty, but through the providence of God I was still able to serve as a Summer intern at the Bellevue Church of Christ in 2007 where I had the added blessing of being a part of a short term mission trip to help rebuild New Orleans, LA along side Operation Nehemiah. While still attending OVU, my family and I were blessed with another opportunity to continue in missions working along with the Let’s Start Talking ministry that enabled us to serve the Mito Church of Christ in Mito Japan by sharing the Bible to people in the community through basic English lessons.

After I graduated from OVU I served as the Part Time Minister of the Mineral Wells Church of Christ for about two months before we submitted to God’s guidance toward an opportunity to go to China as University English teachers with the China Now! ministry where we shared the Bible with our students and many others outside the classroom. The two years we spent in Jingzhou, Hubei, China was transformational and after we returned to the States in 2012 it wasn’t long before we took another opportunity to go back to China to continue our mission work in Shangui, Henan, China for 3 years. My son is 13 and my daughter is 11 and I thank God that through everything they both decided to become Christians. I now serve as the Full Time minister for the Halls Harbor Road Church of Christ where I have been since October of 2015.

Through all of these experiences there has been stress, isolation, depression, culture shock, health difficulties, danger, surprises, growth, faith, worship, and victories all to the glory of God. Now I’m ready to use the lessons I've learned from all of these incredible experiences and put them to work as your coach!
